Woman who Commented ‘Hey Guys’ on Her Own Wanted Poster, has been found by officers, they tracked her down, finding her desperately hiding under a pile of children’s toys

A woman in England has been arrested after her apparent plan to taunt police on her own wanted poster backfired.

On Friday, Jan. 31, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) confirmed a 22-year-old female had been caught after teasing officers by commenting “Hey guys” on her own wanted appeal poster, per a news release.

The comment was made on a post shared by a GMP social media account, officers stated.

The woman was later arrested by the Manchester city center team after she was found attempting to hide underneath “a pile of children’s toys” in a room at a property on Platt Lane in Fallowfield.

A woman was found by police after commenting ‘Hey guys’ on her own wanted poster.

“The 22-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion for failing to appear at court for three counts of assault of an emergency worker, drugs offenses and theft,” police said in the release.

“She was further arrested on suspicion of assaulting a police officer. She remains in custody for questioning by GMP detectives,” officers added.

Police didn’t name the suspect, and blurred her name out of the social media comments screengrab.

Local detective inspector, Natalie McDonald, from GMP’s Manchester Central Neighbourhood Crime Team, said: “We currently have a woman in custody being questioned by detectives thanks to the swift actions of our officers,” per the release.

McDonald continued, “We want to thank everyone who engaged with our post, it ultimately helped us to locate and arrest this woman, and we have dedicated teams of officers across Manchester who are actively seeking and arresting those who are wanted.”

GMP didn’t immediately respond when contacted by PEOPLE for additional information.
